Rothwell hi-fi dates back to 1989 when our first valve products were designed. The 1970’s saw hi-fi move almost completely to transistor designs and valves became just a distant memory, but our first experiments with a valve phono stage were proof positive that valves had huge advantages. Our current catalogue covers valve, transistor and passive devices, all designed and manufactured in the UK to exacting standards.

Headspace moving coil headamp A low noise headamp (also known as a pre-preamp) which does a similar job to a step-up transformer (ie raise the output of moving coil cartridges up to moving magnet levels) but does so with transistors rather than transformers. details
